More Weather

Yesterday was a wild and windy day, exactly as forecast and we were very glad to be tucked up in the safety of the marina, winds continued to blow hard all day and our highest recorded speed was 36.9 knots. Forecasts throughout the day, whilst they continued to be windy, offered a glimmer of hope for Tuesday so we stayed on on the boat over night hoping for better things Tuesday.

Having had another night in the marina and waking up to find an apparently glorious day this morning (Tuesday) there was some excitment that we might actually get to go for a sail. Unfortunately a quick check of the inshore forecast dampened our spirits as there is the promise of more weather on its way. See the forecast below:

'Great Ormes Head to the Mull of Galloway - Strong winds are forecast 24 hour forecast: Northwest 5 or 6 backing southwest 5 to 7, veering northwest perhaps gale 8 later. Moderate or rough. Rain or showers. Moderate or good. Outlook for the following 24 hours:
Outlook: Northwest backing west 5 to 7, perhaps gale 8 at first. Moderate or rough. Rain or showers. Moderate or good. '

The decision was therefore been made to have breakfast, tidy up the boat and head home. We will have to reschedule this trip for a less windy time. A bit of a shame as the weather feels so nice at the moment.

Shakedown Sail

Well, predictably our shakedown sail has not started as well as could be hoped. We have slept the night on board hoping to catch the morning tide out of Glasson Basin Marina but have awoken to find F7 winds in the marina. The forecast was for the winds to have dropped by now and whilst the forecast is still that the winds will drop it seems a little unwise to head out to sea.

It looks like it will be a day of jobs on board hoping that the wind will drop for us to try again tomorrow morning.

Getting ready for the season

With the season fast approaching we are just getting some of those little jobs out of the way. Water in the tanks has been changed so tastes much better, all of the carpeting is now finished, will need to refuel soon and must put the lock on the heads compartment door soon. On the whole we are ready and looking forwards to the coming season.
