Saturday 9th April

Once we finally arrived at Largs marina at 11.30pm we went through a few safety rules whilst drinking a nice cup of hot chocolate. After much deliberation we eventually decided who was sleeping where and the lights went out at 12.30am!

In the morning we were rudely awakened by the seagulls and once finally out of our sleeping bags we made the long trip to the ‘proper toilet’ as no-one wanted to be the first to use the dreaded pump toilet! We got fully dressed in our sexy waterproofs and life jackets we started our long awaited adventure out into the Clyde. Once we out in the open we split into groups of 4 to learn the ropes (literally). We weren’t unable to put up the sails as there was little wind so we used the engine, but we didn’t mind as the sun had his hat on! We then took turns in steering the boat and learning how to navigate, and in the process took a route from Largs marina in between Great and Little Cumbrae islands and made our way across to the top of Arran where we anchored up in Loch Ranza. We are now just sat in the sun on deck awaiting our tea of pork chops and stir fry, to be followed by chocolate gateaux – yummy!
